Flickering through my naked thoughts (2023)
Destemmed Grenache Noir from our vineyards on the hillside of Valgrand just outside the village, macerated in the directly pressed juice of Cinsault from Le Mazel. The maceration was long, a little more than 9 months. This because the winter and the cold came early in 2023, and we didn’t wanted to press the grapes I the cold cellar and expose the wine to the risk that follows with that. Instead, we waited until the cellar regained some temperature in the spring of 2024 and made the décuvage in May. From the pressoir, the wine was filled directly into barriques where it stayed another year and was bottled in June of 2025.
The complexity of this wine obvious and outspoken, with its light color you might think it’s an easy and light wine. But the long maceration has given the wine another direction and a whole other structure, something more similar full-bodied wine with richer tannins. That not said that it’s a wine with a lot of tannins. But it’s a wine with a beautiful strong structure – dressed up as a Ploussard of Jura.
